Techniques of expression

Photography is not as frequent as other techniques of expression in Jean Hirtzel’s artwork. It serves to capture decisive moments, in particular during his sojourns with the Gypsies or with the Amerindians. It represents an additional input to the many other techniques he experimented with during his research. 

Certain photographs are sometimes used as collage in his artwork and are in part painted.
